Christmas Markets in London 2020

The festive season is here, finally here. It’s been a long year, with all the lockdowns, restrictions and bad news around Covid. We have to say we are happy to see London light up. Since last year, we are still renovating our hotel. Just last week all the new fireproof doors have been installed and we are nearly coming to the finish line.

In this article, we would like to share with you Christmas markets in London. Yesterday I went to Oxford Street to do some shopping and it was hectic! It was crazy. Safe but crazy. Everybody respects the other person’s privacy. We did the list based on the shops and markets that are opened. We will update our list once more stores will open.

  1. Canopy Christmas Market (Kings Cross)

Of course, we would start with our favorite Christmas market! The one that is outside our doorstep. The stars are lit and Canopy market is really festive this year. This year the market is collaborating with some brilliant partners offering special events in the weekends running up to Christmas. Some of London’s finest artists, designers and markers feature in the Crafty Fox takeover from 11-13 December.

You can try out classic mince pies at Popina and cult South London Bakery Little Bread Pedlar, delicious Christmas cheeseboards and Englighs artisan cheesemongers Heritage Cheese, rich Penettone at Casa Cannoli and Spiced Masala Chai at Amala.

If you are looking for a perfect gift, you can pick up Italian Christmas hamper with olive oil and previous white truffles by Woop, or one of the gin boxes from Artisan Gin.

Of course there is plenty of delicious food for your belly to try.

2. Borough Market Christmas

You might be familiar with the year-round food market. This year the market had a makeover for December. They extended their opening hours into the evening and the space is decorated with wreaths, tinsel and twinkly lights as its stalls sell their usual delicious offering as well as festive additions – mulled wine, Christmas cakes and gifts. There is a lovely artisan bread that you can find at Olivier’s Bakery.

3. Festive Flea

Flea London is launching a Christmas market in Vinegar Yard. The makers’ fair is inspired by European flea markets, with an emphasis on sustainable living and independent traders. Anything you buy from the market will support local and small businesses, there are more than 40 stalls of handcrafted gifts, that you can take to your loved ones. While exploring you can sip on mulled wine and some delicious treats like chocolate-dipped churros!

4. Selfridges Christmas Market

Selfridges announced this year that they will do a Christmas market! I guess it’s something that people love doing. Their market is hidden behind the department store on a mews. The market will include street food, sparkling Christmas lights, gift stalls and food stalls. Food stalls include burgers and barbecued meat from Tramshed, fresh egg pasta prepared inside a chunk of Parmesan at Cheese Wheel, traditional currywurst and bratwurst from Pop Dogs and other options for a festive tipple.

5. DYI Art Market

For this year we have a new market, the DIY Christmas Market that is held at Rich Mix in Shoreditch. There are more than 100 stall holders across four floors. They all have artistic talents and passion for art. There will be lots to snap up (including smaller stocking fillers), and all pieces are crafted by Covid-hit independent retailers – so you’ll know you’re supporting a good cause this Christmas.

6. Christmas By The River

Even if you don’t buy anything at this market, the views of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London alone make it a priceless visit.
As always there will be lots of food and drink pop-ups in cosy cabins – to warm you up especially this December is freezing in London town. There are free workshops with social distancing rules enable them to continue post-lockdown.
This is one of the longer-running markets in the capital and a must-visit.
There you go, six markets to choose from and explore more London. We hope you truly explore London this year as you truly deserve it.
Spread the love
