Exploring New Year’s Eve In London

This New Year you might want to explore new things in London town, this year you might want to party harder because, hey it’s the end of the year and it’s a beginning of a new year and a NEW decade! So we did some research as we always do for you and come up with a list of things you might enjoy to do this New Year. In a city like London, you will always find a lot of events going on.

So, without further introductions, here are some things you could do on New Year’s Eve;

  1. Channel Bombay Glam At Dishoom Kensington

If you like street food, you will enjoy this one. Its Indian street food maestro Dishoom is going ‘Bombay vintage glam’ at its beautiful Art Deco Kensington venue. There are two set menus that will be offered (one for vegetarians) and local troupe the Marine Liners will be supplying steamy jazz until the party finishes at 1AM. Elsewhere at Dishoom’s other London locations (Covent Garden, Shoreditch and of course Kings Cross), the all-day menu will be rolled out alongside fittingly retro tunes to keep the mood lively until 2am. We suggest you book ahead, but walk-ins are welcome. Dress fancy, vintage Bombay Style.

2. Combine Cabaret & Feasting At Arcade Food

This sleek food court on the ground floor of the towering Centre Point building is offering a little bit of everything to lead guests into 2020. There’ll be DJs, cabaret performances, magicians, stilt walkers and fortunetelling bearded drag queens to entertain everyone – which means that you will not be bored. If you get hungry, you can come to Arcade’s seven kitchens and three bars. You will have Japanese-Peruvian fusion, Cypriot flavours, Mexican, Italian and even katsu sandwiches, plus bespoke cocktails and other fine tipples from the bars.

3. Party In Underground Hong Kong At Bun House X Wun’s

Get a taste of 1960s Hong Kong this New Year’s Eve at the boldly named 2020 Bang Bang Rock ’n’ Roll New Year Party. Taking place at Wun’s Tea Room and Bar – from the team that runs Chinatown’s acclaimed Cantonese steamed buns specialists, Bun House – this lively basement-bar bash is themed around surf rock glam, but given a Hong Kong makeover. DJs will be spinning cross-continent tunes to set the mood and cocktails will have a South-east Asian twist, including combinations such as shiso and cucumber. Keeping the theme going, Hong Kong craft beer will also be served, as will Bun House’s signature filled and steamed buns, plus other snacks.

4. Go Covert At The Candlelight Bar

Brush up on your Charleston for this Jazz Age-themed bash. As with all the Candlelight Club’s wildly popular soirees, it’s a hush-hush affair hosted in a secret location, revealed to ticket holders nearer the time. Rest assured, though, that these professionals select some very fine venues for their parties. Once you’re inside, you’ll see what all the fuss is about: cabaret, live jazz, cocktails, DJs spinning retro sounds, candles galore and even fortune tellers if you’re keen to glimpse what 2020 has in store. Dressing to impress and elaborate costumes are very much part of the fun, so put on your best Gatsbyesque glad rags, grab a martini and join in.

5. Glide Into 2020 at Somerset House

One of London’s favourite ice rinks doubles up as the venue for Somerset House’s New Year’s Eve party. If you don’t fancy hitting the ice, fear not – there’s plenty to keep non-skaters occupied. The House Gospel Choir will be giving dance music classics a new lease of life accompanied by a live brass band, alongside DJs around the venue. Pop-ups, including the Fortnum & Mason Lodge, will provide the food, but perhaps best of all, you get access to Somerset House’s lovely riverside terrace, giving you a great view of the Mayor of London’s fireworks – the big, spectacular ones in central London that welcome in the New Year at midnight.
